(Almost) a Scam
Fake viewers on booking websites
Estimated time to read: 2 Minutes

Why do the websites show fake viewers?
To put pressure on you
“6 people are looking at this moment” – Not really.

Booking websites nowadays are using more and more psychological tricks. The obvious goal – they want you to book something.
Booking hotel rooms and flights is not a cheap task and should be done with a lot of planning.
Comparing prices, places and dates can take a good amount of time but it will be worth your time.
That exact process is something that the booking websites do not like. They want to pressure you into buying. They will show you things like this:

If you see something like this, the natural reaction would be to act fast and book the room or the flight. But this is not a good idea. You should never let them pressure you into buying/booking things that have such a high price tag.
You should always take your time. Not months, of course, but also not just a single day or even a couple hours.
The viewer numbers are fake
The people that are “looking” at the same moment as you are, are not real.
It is just a really effective device to put pressure on you. The same goes for- this hotel room X just got booked X times this day.
They will even tell you which rooms/hotels are full, so that you will get the feeling of losing all your possible chances. Even if this or that hotel is full, remember that the website only shows you this information to stress you.
